The CSO Academy has hosted a series of workshops dedicated to Human Resources. The aim is to bring together HR Directors of global and large national civil society organisations (CSOs) to develop concrete concepts which these organisations can – jointly and within their own organisations – implement to identify promising staff and to nurture and deploy them to their full potential.

Developing Our Sector’s Future Leaders
On 18 and19 March 2010, the third meeting of Human Resources Directors of the leading global CSOs took place in Berlin. 15 HR directors from 12 global CSOs had the opportunity to jointly discuss leadership development aiming at developing concrete strategies and joint approaches.

Consistent Global HR Policy
From 31 March to 01 April 2009, Human Resources Directors from eight of the leading CSOs gathered to explore ways towards a consistent global HR policy. The main objectives were to establish a balance between global and national HR needs and to identify an optimal global HR system in a federated organisation. The workshop aimed to identify the challenges associated with HR policies and systems and to set up a strategy for global talent development and a system for performance management.

Global Talent Development
On 07 and 08 April 2008, ten Human Resources Directors from the largest global CSOs met and explored strategies on how to systematically attract, select, develop and retain high-performing staff. Participants identified three major components of talent development which were addressed: securing acceptance for talent development; evaluation and identification of talent and talent pools; and retention, training and development.
