Vision Works is an annual event which offers Chairs, Board Members and CEOs of civil society organisations (CSOs) the opportunity to step out of their daily pressurised positions and enter into a well-prepared process for defining their visions for the organisations they lead.

ICSO Strategies towards the Future
On 19 – 20 April 2012, the fifth annual Vision Works – the Global Chairs and CEOs Meeting took place at the Greentree Foundation in New York. Over two days, global CEOs and Chairs of the most eminent ICSOs discussed key strategic issues for their organisations and the sector as a whole. This year’s topic addressed the far reaching changes ICSOs will have to go through in order to remain relevant and strengthen their position in a dramatically changing world. Participants explored the most relevant global trends, identified some of the resulting threats and opportunities, charted a way forward both for individual organisations and joint action and discussed challenges of change management and leadership. The Changing Face of Poverty
On 14 and 15 April 2011, the fourth annual Vision Works meeting took place in Berlin. Over two days 27 global leaders from 17 of the world’s preeminent CSOs came together to jointly discuss how to re-position their organisations in order to successfully address “The Changing Face of Poverty”. On 15 and 16 April 2010, the third annual Vision Works meeting took place in Berlin. 22 CEOs and Board Members from 12 of the leading global civil society organisations discussed the opportunities and challenges associated with the theme “Civil Society Organisations in a Multi-Polar World”. Vision Works 2009
Governance and the Global Financial Crisis
On 05 and 06 March 2009, Chairs and CEOs from 12 of the leading CSOs gathered in Berlin for the second annual Vision Works meeting. They jointly addressed two key issues: the Global Economic Crisis and CSOs’ global governance. The workshop explored how to deal with the economic crisis, both in supporting the poor and vulnerable as well as in positioning their own organisations. Please view the Outcome from this meeting.
Vision Works 2008
Good Governance in Voluntary Organisations
On 28 and 29 February 2008 Chairs and CEOs from 25 of the leading global CSOs attended the first annual Vision Works meeting. The focus of this meeting was to jointly explore how to strengthen volunteer-based governance in global CSOs. The discussion centred on issues including balancing between global and national interests, strengthening the performance of global Boards, devising a successful global strategy and drawing the line between governance and management. Having never met before in this constellation, the group discovered the enormous potential of learning from each other and expressed the wish to meet again the following year.
