Convening

As a meeting point of civil society, the Center hosts the following events for civil society organisations (CSOs), thereby enabling discussion, exchange and solutions to challenges:

Global Perspectives - the international CSO leaders’ forum, the Center’s biggest event, takes place on a yearly basis since 2009. It aims at being an annual meeting place for up to 150 Senior Managers of the leading CSOs and experts from business, government and academia to devise joint strategies on opportunities, challenges and trends impacting CSOs.

Vision Works - the Global Chairs and CEOs Meeting, an annual event since 2008, offers Chairs, Board Members and CEOs the opportunity to step out of their daily pressurised positions and enter into a well-prepared process for defining their visions for the organisations they lead.

Global Peers – the meeting of international CEOs: building on the meetings “Joint Action Towards 2015 And Beyond” held in November 2011, “Global Impact” held in April 2012 and “Partnering Effectively for a Successful Post-2015 Agenda” held in October 2012, Global Peers aims to build the peer group of international CEOs and to strengthen their relationship with key stakeholders of our sector by bringing in leaders from the UN, the World Bank, key foundations etc. In its 4th edition, this meeting is starting to become an event in its own right. We have therefore given it its own name: Global Peers - the meeting of international CEOs.

The Senior Leaders Programme brings together up to 25 experienced leaders to jointly explore existing and future leadership challenges as well as develop effective approaches to deal with these. The programme is aimed specifically at CEOs and Deputy CEOs of major national and global CSOs as well as Division Heads working at the global level. The Senior Leaders Programme is one of a suite of workshops offered by the CSO Academy.

In 2012, as part of the Global Governance Project, the Berlin Civil Society Center welcomed governance experts from civil society, academia and business at the Global Governance Workshop held on 06-07 September 2012 in Berlin. The workshop offered the unique opportunity to discuss four draft Standard Governance Models produced by the project’s Working Group and further developed in an Online Discussion, as well as it addressed potential implementation strategies and state-of-the-art governance practice.
