Ownership and Governance
Ownership
Founded and originally owned by Peter Eigen and Burkhard Gnärig, the Center’s ownership is being transferred to some of the most eminent global CSOs. Presently the following organisations each hold a 10% share of the Center:
Amnesty International – owner since 2009
CBM – owner since 2009
ChildFund Alliance – owner since 2011
Oxfam International – owner since 2009
Plan International – owner since 2010
SOS Children’s Villages International – owner since 2012
Transparency International – owner since 2009
World Vision International – owner since 2009
WWF International – owner since 2012
The remaining share of the Center will also be transferred to one additional global civil society organisation so that eventually the Center will be fully owned by its primary users.
Governance
The Shareholders constitute the Center’s highest decision making body. They meet once a year in a Shareholders’ meeting. The last Shareholders’ meeting took place in November 2012.
The role of the Center’s Board of Trustees is to monitor the management of the organisation. Presently the Board consists of the CEOs of each of the Center’s owners, one of the founders and the CEO of a prospective owner. The current Board members are as follows:
